MARGIN COMMERCIAL LICENSE — SINGLE WEBSITE License version 1.0 — 25 October 2026 Copyright (c) 2026 Atelier Themes. All rights reserved in original theme code. Contact: contact@atelierthemes.com
This license governs the original Margin theme code, templates, styles and documentation supplied by Atelier Themes ("we"). The license holder ("you") is the purchaser identified in a valid order from Atelier Themes or an authorized seller. The seller's legal identity and contact details are those stated on the order receipt and at checkout. This license grants rights only after a valid purchase or an express written license grant from Atelier Themes. Possession of a ZIP file alone does not establish a license.
The license version supplied with your purchase applies to that purchase. A later policy change does not retroactively reduce the rights already granted. Any separately agreed written commercial terms must identify the order and the provisions they replace.
Each purchased license grants a non-exclusive, worldwide right to install and use Margin for one production website, for your own business or one client. A production website is one independently operated Ghost publication. Domain aliases and redirects serving that same publication count as the same website. A separate publication requires a separate license, even if it uses a subdomain of the same domain, the same server, company or Ghost hosting account.
You may keep unlimited private backup copies and local, development, preview and staging installations used solely to build, test or maintain that licensed website. A public staging preview must not operate as a second live publication. You may move the licensed website between hosts or domains without purchasing again, provided the old installation ceases operating as a separate production website. A temporary overlap solely for migration is allowed.
You may use the licensed website for personal, commercial, advertising-funded or paid-membership publishing. No per-reader, traffic or revenue fee is charged under this license. Ghost, hosting, payment and other service fees are separate.
You may edit the theme's templates, CSS, JavaScript, translations and assets for the licensed website, and hire employees or contractors to do so. Give access only as needed for that work; those recipients must not reuse or redistribute the theme. You remain responsible for their use of your licensed copy.
You retain rights in your own content and original additions. Those rights do not grant permission to distribute the underlying Margin code as a theme. Keep copyright and third-party license notices in distributed source copies. No visible Atelier Themes credit is required on the licensed website.
Serving the theme's browser-delivered assets as part of the licensed website is permitted. This does not authorize distribution of the installable theme or reuse of its proprietary code in another website or product.
An agency or freelancer may buy a license for one client website and charge for design, installation and customization services. You may permanently transfer the entire license to that client, or to a new owner of the same licensed website, by notifying contact@atelierthemes.com with the order reference and obtaining the recipient's agreement to this license. Transfer only the information needed to identify the order and recipient; never send passwords.
The transfer includes the website's theme copy and any remaining update/support period; it does not restart that period. After handover, you may retain a copy only for maintaining that client's website as their contractor, or as a private archive. You may not reuse the transferred license for another client or site. Standalone resale of the license or theme is not permitted.
Except for the uses expressly allowed above, you may not:
– Share, upload, sell, rent, sublicense, give away or redistribute the theme ZIP or proprietary source, whether modified or unmodified. – Place the proprietary theme source in a public repository or download service. – Repackage Margin, or substantial portions of its proprietary code, as another theme, template, starter kit, builder library or product offered to others. – Include Margin in a multi-customer hosting service, theme club, subscription library or other service that lets multiple independent websites use one license. Buy a separate license for each production website instead. – Share purchase credentials or use another customer's order to obtain updates or support.
These restrictions do not override rights granted by the separate licenses of third-party components, or rights that applicable law does not allow us to limit.
The purchase includes access to Margin updates that we make generally available to customers during the 12 months following the original purchase date. This includes fixes and compatibility releases we issue for supported Ghost versions; it does not promise a release schedule, a future feature, a future major Ghost version or indefinite maintenance of every historical theme version.
You may keep using theme versions lawfully received under this license after the update period ends, subject to this license. Your website is not disabled because update/support access expires. Keep a backup of your downloaded files; permanent re-download availability is not promised.
Renewing update/support access is optional and requires a separate purchase at the price disclosed before renewal. This license creates no automatic renewal or recurring charge. If no renewal offer is available, continued use of copies already received remains permitted.
The purchase includes 12 months of email support from the original purchase date through contact@atelierthemes.com. SUPPORT.md explains the included scope, supported environment and information needed to investigate an issue. Support covers installation guidance, documented settings and reproducible defects in the original theme; it does not include custom development, server management or operation of third-party services. No guaranteed response or resolution deadline is included. Transferring a license does not extend its support period.
The commercial restrictions above apply to original Atelier Themes material, not to independently licensed third-party software or assets. Their licenses remain in force and take precedence for those components.
Bundled DM Sans and Libre Caslon Display font files remain under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. Their copyright notices and full licenses are included at: assets/fonts/LICENSE-dm-sans.txt assets/fonts/LICENSE-libre-caslon-display.txt
Ghost and its native frontend applications are separate software with their own terms. Installing Margin does not grant a Ghost hosting, Stripe, email, external font-service or other third-party account or subscription. Public demo content and images are not included in the theme ZIP unless expressly identified as included assets; a demo preview alone does not grant reuse rights in that content.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the theme is provided "as is" without additional warranties, including uninterrupted or error-free operation, fitness for a particular purpose or compatibility with every third-party service. You are responsible for backups and testing changes before production use.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Atelier Themes is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost revenue or lost data arising from use of the theme. Any aggregate liability arising from this license is limited to the amount paid for the affected theme license, except where the law prohibits that limitation.
Nothing in this license excludes or limits mandatory consumer rights, statutory remedies or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Refund and cancellation information must be disclosed separately at checkout; this license does not create a blanket no-refund policy or replace those mandatory rights.
If you materially breach this license, we may give written notice describing the breach and allow 30 days to correct it. If it remains uncorrected, we may terminate the license by written notice. On termination, stop using and remove the proprietary theme copies, except records you must retain by law. Termination does not cancel any non-excludable statutory rights. Expiry of the update or support period alone is not a breach and does not terminate the usage license.
For additional websites, client handover, licensing questions or written permission for uses outside this license, email contact@atelierthemes.com.
Policy version 1.0 — 25 October 2026.
Each Single Website license includes 12 months of email support and access to released updates, starting on the original purchase date. The usage license continues after that period. Renewal is optional; there is no automatic renewal or recurring charge under the license. Read LICENSE.txt for the complete terms.
We may ask you to reproduce an issue on an unmodified copy in staging. We can help identify a problem around custom changes, but implementing or maintaining those changes is outside included support. A defect in the original theme remains within scope even when it was first discovered on a customized site.
The package's `engines.ghost` field states its declared Ghost requirement. Margin declares Ghost 6.x support; version 0.5.3 was validated with Ghost 6.72.0. A future major Ghost release is not automatically covered until expressly supported in a theme release. Browser issues can be reported for the current and previous stable releases of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge; this support scope is not a claim that every release has already been tested. The included review notes identify the versions actually checked.
Please use maintained Ghost and browser releases. We may ask you to reproduce an issue on the latest compatible Ghost patch release and a current browser before we can investigate it further. A fix may be delivered in a newer theme version rather than backported to every previous version.
We will try to direct you to relevant documentation when a request falls outside theme support. This does not include completing that external work.
Email contact@atelierthemes.com with:
1. Your order reference, purchase email and licensed website URL. 2. Your Margin version, Ghost version, browser/version and screen size. 3. The affected page, expected behavior and steps to reproduce the issue. 4. A screenshot or short recording when useful, and whether the issue occurs with an unmodified theme.
Do not email passwords, API keys, payment details, member lists or a database export. Remove private information from screenshots and logs. If access is needed, we will agree on the minimum access and a safe method separately.
During the 12-month entitlement period, you may obtain updates released for Margin through the delivery method provided with your order. Follow the update instructions in the documentation and back up direct code changes first. New feature development and a fixed release schedule are not promised.
After the period ends, you may continue using versions you lawfully received. Further updates and individual support require a new entitlement if one is offered; its price and duration must be disclosed before purchase. An agency-to-client transfer preserves the original expiry date.
For the same purchase, this policy cannot reduce rights granted by its accompanying license. Mandatory statutory rights and remedies remain unaffected by the end of the contractual support period.
The following general sections apply to Shopify and WordPress themes only. Margin is governed by the Single Website commercial license and support policy above. Other products retain the terms shown with their purchase.
A Shopify theme is for Shopify; a WordPress theme is for WordPress. Buying one does not provide a version for the other platform. This agreement covers the commercial offer described here and the terms shown with your purchase. It does not override an applicable open-source license or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
For Shopify themes purchased directly from this website, the default Single Store License permits use on one production Shopify store and its associated staging and development environments. You may customize the design, Liquid code, sections and templates for that licensed store, including a client store with an appropriate license.
Use on multiple independent production stores requires the multi-store or agency rights expressly agreed in your order. A separate commercial arrangement is not included merely because you are an agency or developer.
Unless a file’s own license permits it, you may not resell, sublicense, redistribute or publicly share proprietary Shopify theme files as a standalone theme, template or competing theme product. Do not misrepresent authorship or share private account credentials and download links. These restrictions do not apply to code or assets where a separate open-source license grants the relevant rights.
WordPress theme code released under GPLv2 or later is governed by the license supplied with that code. You may use, modify and redistribute GPL-covered code as that license permits, subject to its conditions, including applicable notice and source-code requirements. The included license determines its precise scope.
Commercial limits on support, update access or the number of websites covered by a service plan do not remove rights already granted to GPL-covered code. The Shopify single-store restriction above is not a blanket restriction on WordPress GPL code. Separately licensed fonts, images, plugins, design files and other assets retain their own license terms.
For background, see the WordPress licensing explanation (opens in a new tab) and the GPLv2 license text (opens in a new tab). These references do not replace the notices included with your theme.
Our existing paid-theme offer includes free lifetime theme updates for the lifetime of your purchased license and six months of complimentary priority support from the purchase date. A separately agreed agency or service plan follows the coverage recorded in that order. These commercial services are distinct from rights to GPL-covered code.
Support covers questions and technical issues relating to the purchased theme and its stated requirements. Custom development, third-party services and changes outside the theme’s supported configuration are not automatically included. Review the product page and contact us before purchasing if a feature or integration is essential.
Updates are made available through the delivery arrangements associated with your purchase. Review the changelog and back up your site before applying updates. Lifetime update access is not a guarantee that every future platform change, plugin, app or custom modification will be supported.
Only files and assets expressly listed as included form part of your purchase. A demo may contain photography, fonts, apps, plugins or services with their own licenses or costs. A demo image or integration is not automatically licensed or included in the theme package. If a stock photography pack is included, use it under the rights supplied with that pack.
Atelier Themes and the relevant licensors retain rights in their original work, subject to the rights granted by the applicable licenses. Your own product data, photography, copy and brand assets remain yours or the property of their respective owners. Do not remove notices that an included license requires you to preserve.
A material breach may end commercial access or proprietary license rights in accordance with the applicable terms. A refund may end the support, update and account-download entitlements attached to that purchase. For a refunded proprietary Shopify license, stop using the theme on the licensed live and staging stores.
Termination and continuing rights in GPL-covered WordPress code are determined by the GPL itself. Neither a commercial service limit nor this refund wording independently cancels rights granted by that license. See the Refund Policy for the request process.
Themes are provided subject to their stated platform, editor and installation requirements. We do not guarantee compatibility with every third-party app, plugin, hosting environment or custom change. Any warranty exclusion is subject to applicable mandatory rights.
Motiv, Grocenest and Rove are available for purchase as downloadable WordPress themes under the WordPress code and commercial service terms above. Review each product page for its included files, platform requirements and documentation. Ghost themes, including Margin, are available as separate products for Ghost publications.
