A new chapter for the Atelier Journal
Design notes, clearer choices and a shared point of view for Shopify and WordPress — including Ghost publications.
A good starting point makes room for what comes next. The Atelier Journal is a place for thoughtful notes on choosing a theme, understanding your platform and shaping a website around your own content.
Different platforms, a shared point of view
Our collections bring Shopify and WordPress into the same studio. Each platform has its own tools and installation process, so our guides keep the platform clear from the start. A Shopify theme belongs on Shopify; a WordPress theme belongs on WordPress.
What connects them is our approach: considered layouts, expressive typography and space for your brand to make itself known. A theme should provide direction while leaving room for your own identity.
From a first look to a considered choice
Start with a live demo, then look beyond the first impression. Browse product and content pages, explore the mobile view, and check how the layouts might work with your own images and writing. The individual product page is the place to review included features, editor requirements, licensing and support.
Explore the Shopify collection or the WordPress collection to find a starting point. The WordPress listings for Motiv, Grocenest and Rove currently provide a preview of the collection; their product pages explain the sample status.
The next chapter: Ghost
Margin is now available for Ghost publications. Explore the Ghost collection for its live demo, Ghost 6+ requirements and product details.
A conversation with the studio
We will use this journal to make the choices around a theme easier to understand. If a guide leaves you with a question about a specific project, tell us what you are planning. Your platform, the theme you are considering and the kind of website you want to build are useful places to begin.
